Fulton City School District board certifies May 19 election, adopts $94.5 million budget and approves transportation, library and property measures

The Board of Education of the Fulton City School District certified the results of the May 19, 2026 annual school-district election and adopted the district's 2026–27 appropriations budget, the board said at a routine meeting where members read the election tabulations aloud.
The board declared three winners to three-year terms on the board of education and two winners for library trustee positions based on the inspectors' reports presented. The vote tallies read into the record listed: Timothy Kandle (572 yes votes), Ralph Perrell Jr. (558 yes votes), Brenda Abbleore (570 yes votes); library trustee winners Leah Golic Gula (459 yes votes) and Josh Rule (176 yes votes). The budget proposal passed by the tally read as 430 to 341.
In the same set of ballot results the board recorded that a student transportation vehicle proposition of $380,000 passed; the proposition was described as funding "one minibus, one minivan, and two drum trucks." The student-transportation proposition vote was read as 437 to 295. The library-tax proposition for $565,896 passed (541 to 227), and the sale-of-property proposition concerning the property formerly called Eerie Street School passed (617 to 134), according to the tabulations read into the record.
Board members moved and seconded the motion to accept the election reports and to declare the results. The formal resolution language was read and adopted by the board; the meeting record uses a transcript phrase for the roll-call-style confirmation (recorded as "All those in favor? I. All those opposed abstaining. Passes 70").
The board also recorded that the district's 2026'27 appropriations budget of $94,500,000 was determined to have passed and that the declared winners' terms will begin July 1, 2026.
After the formal actions, board members thanked Mrs. Griffin "for filling in for us over these last couple of months and helping us get through the budget process." Mrs. Griffin responded, "You're most welcome. And it was fun to come back for a short visit. ... I have to say to the board, I'm going to pay you a nice compliment. I think you all did good," and praised the district's transition with the new superintendent.
The board noted that Mr. Crannle, who received the most votes in the board election, is expected to take his seat at the next meeting and that orientation for the newly elected members will be scheduled. The meeting adjourned with customary thanks to voters and participants.
