Alma board recognizes multiple staff and coaches for service and awards

The Alma School District board opened the May 14 meeting by recognizing several staff members and coaches for outstanding service.
Courtney Parker and Sherry Copeland were recognized for front‑office work at the intermediate school. Principals praised Tracy Dean, who was unable to attend because of a choir concert, and Bonnie (noted for work in a partial‑day special education classroom) for commitment to students. Jill Boyd was highlighted for leadership as cafeteria manager; Whitney Gedden was recognized for 14 years of service at Alma High School. Communications director Jenna Ogleby was thanked for publicity work promoting student and staff accomplishments.
Coaches were also honored: Darren Stahler was named the state’s assistant basketball coach of the year for all classifications; other coaches and All‑Star participants were recognized for contributions to student athletics. A behind‑the‑scenes curriculum and operations team (including Amy Brewer, Michael Bridges, Brandy Broken, Aaron Reeves, Chelsea Sterdevant, Zach Thomas and others) received group recognition for supporting recent district initiatives.
Speakers emphasized staff dedication to students, school culture and community connections.
