At its Aug. 4 meeting the Bolton Heritage Farm Commission reviewed routine maintenance, project updates and a potential public‑relations opportunity involving a resident-made drone video.
The minutes record that two trees were planted by staff (identified in the maintenance report as 'Chris'), a downed tree by the trail was removed by grounds staff, and weekly mowing and trimming continue. The BHF accounts report was not available for discussion, and no financial update was recorded.
Commission member Rhea Klein said she is transposing portions of a previously non‑pursued grant into a new application to the Hartford Foundation for Giving. The commission also recorded no new update on LOTCIP follow-up or trail design. Members reported that Jim and Kathy have been updating town information and working on National Park Service wayfinding signage.
Commissioner Bonnie Massey flagged a needed tree‑planting item for follow-up. In new business, Commissioner Kevin Drake raised a recent drone video of the Farm posted on the Facebook page 'Everything Bolton' and said he would contact the resident operator to request rights to use the footage or to arrange a short replacement video the commission could use for digital PR.
On procedural items the commission approved the July 7, 2025 minutes (motion by Rhea Klein; seconded by Paula Lynn) by voice vote with all in favor. The meeting was later adjourned on a motion by Kevin Drake, seconded by Ann Maulucci; the minutes record that the meeting ended at 6:29 PM.
Follow-up items recorded for future meetings include the Hartford Foundation grant reapplication work by Commissioner Klein, the LOTCIP/trail design status, NPS wayfinding updates from Jim and Kathy, and the request that Kevin Drake pursue permission for video use.
