Dunwoody moves forward with Homecoming Park design, hires project manager

Staff told council six firms competed for the work and a selection committee recommended LD Blue Line based on experience with municipal parks and recent city projects. The design contract will be paid from the Homecoming Park capital project and staff said they would stand up a community steering committee for resident input once the design contract is finalized.
In a related request, staff sought $160,000 for a project-management contract with Comprehensive Program Services (CPS) to oversee design, permitting and construction phases and to act as a staff extension for community engagement. Staff said the city will issue a concurrent construction-manager-at-risk procurement to accelerate delivery and that CPS would coordinate design and the eventual construction procurement.
Council asked about outreach, community-member participation on the steering committee and a construction timeline. Staff said community volunteers and neighborhood representatives would be asked to serve on the steering committee and noted the Spalding Garden Club had offered a verbal financial commitment for a sensory garden feature.
What comes next: staff will finalize the design contract and bring the project-management contract for approval; a separate construction-manager-at-risk procurement is planned to accelerate work and reduce schedule risk.
