School board approves surveying and construction documents for RDC football‑field renovation

The Clark County Board of Education approved a recommended bid of $11,210 for surveying services for the RDC athletic‑fields renovation and later approved construction documents for the RDC football‑field renovation (project BG26‑108).
Brian Buckner, presenting engineering recommendations, told the board that two estimates came back for the survey and the lower bidder (identified in the staff memo as Endris/Endrris Engineering) offered both a lower price and a faster schedule. "They were less expensive and they also were able to get it done faster," Buckner said. The board approved the survey award by voice vote, 5–0.
Staff also walked members through the construction plans for the football field, highlighting an updated grading plan, replacement of failing drainage pipe with three new 30‑inch RCP runs and modest adjustments to a retaining wall. Presenters said the drainage work should improve runoff handling for the adjacent neighborhood; the board approved the construction documents 5–0.
One related procurement was postponed: staff reported only a single special‑inspections proposal had been received and asked to delay a decision until at least two or three bids were available. The board voted to table that approval until the June meeting.
What this means: With the surveying contract and construction documents approved, staff said they will move into bid solicitation and begin construction work over the summer. Project representatives estimated construction would begin toward the end of the summer and continue through fall and winter; geotechnical surveys and further bid packages for turf work are planned in June and July.
The board discussed neighborhood impacts and was told the updated drainage plan should be a net improvement for both the school and adjacent properties.
