Council approves $35,000 EDC infrastructure grant for Kings Clean project

The Orange City Council voted May 26 to approve a $35,000 infrastructure grant through the Orange Economic Development Corporation for Joe Lewis King Jr., owner of Kings Clean at 1512 Burton. City staff said the project meets EDC incentive standards and represents a proposed $528,000 capital investment at the site.
"The $35,000 EDC incentive will help offset the cost associated with infrastructure such as concrete, electrical, and plumbing," a city staff representative (who took the item for Miss Grabbit and identified himself as "Mr. Trey") said during the meeting. Staff said agreement execution is contingent on submittals and permitting approvals by the planning department.
Council approved the resolution on final reading and authorized the city manager to execute the grant agreement once permitting conditions are satisfied.
What happens next: Staff will coordinate with the applicant on required permits and return final documentation for execution of the grant agreement.
