Town staff told commissioners the town received a voluntary annexation petition from Hampton Village LLC on April 26, 2024, and that the applicant had previously submitted a petition in 2013 that was not acted on by the board. Staff said the new petition is residential and will require research on tax, trash, water, sewer, public safety and utility impacts before the board can set a public hearing.
The board approved a resolution directing the town clerk to review the petition and return findings of sufficiency. Town staff said the review will require coordination with the police and fire departments and public works to assess service impacts; the number of current residents in the affected park was not specified.
Next steps: staff will perform the sufficiency review and return with findings and recommended next steps, including whether to set a public hearing on annexation.
