On student travel, the board approved two out-of-state requests. SkillsUSA will send five students and three adults to nationals in Atlanta, Georgia. The board also approved a proposal for the Big Blue band to travel to Washington, D.C., to march in the National Memorial Day Parade; planning items discussed included coach seating limits (about 50 seats per coach), possible equipment logistics (fly or drive instruments), and a three- or four-night itinerary option being evaluated.
Other actions taken: the board approved the district nominee for the NMSBA 2026 scholarship (Payton Weezer), accepted recommended graduates from Lovington High School and New Hope High School, approved a memorandum of agreement with Lee County for a county-funded safety mapping initiative (Ark Strategic Safety), and authorized disposal of listed surplus assets with a 30-day inspection window prior to disposal.
