Board members also approved three construction change orders with Core Construction using schools facility funds rather than general district funds. Amber Burgess described each item: installing exhaust (science) hoods at Eastmark High School and Crismon High School and adding an outdoor high-intensity training (HIT) area at Crismon. Burgess said the schools facility division retains a portion of awards until substantial completion and that, based on current balances, the district can add these scopes back into each project. The board moved, seconded and approved each change order.
The board voted to designate Amber Burgess as the district's single representative for court-directed negotiations with the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) over CTE funding allocation. Dr. Berry said a court order issued March 30, 2026, requires each district and EVIT to name a single representative with full authority to participate in negotiations; Burgess will attend daily, in-person sessions beginning April 21 until an agreement is reached and will report back to the board.
Actions recorded during the meeting included acceptance of the FY2025 financial and compliance audit reports by roll call vote and approval of change orders for Eastmark High School and Crismon High School.
