Board approves Mountain Trail campus improvements and $700,000 grounds contract

Amber Bordes told the board that Mountain Trail Academy has remaining SFD funds and recommended restoring previously reduced items: shade canopies on east and south building facades for parent pickup and bus drop‑off, an extension and widening of the pickup sidewalk, shade over an existing swing set, a new kindergarten swing set with shade, speed bumps to manage traffic, and a volleyball net sleeve. Bordes said the work will start this summer with the goal of completion before the next school year.
On a separate procurement item, staff reported that an evaluation committee solicited proposals and received three bids for grounds maintenance. The committee recommended BrightView Landscaping Services; the board approved the award for an estimated $700,000 per fiscal year to cover landscape care, irrigation management, weed control, and upkeep across district sites.
Board members confirmed SFD funds are restricted to the Mountain Trail campus and discussed the need to expend those funds or risk losing them. Both items were approved by voice vote.
