Tarpon Springs swears in new assistant city manager and fire chief

Scott Young, who had been serving dual roles as the city's fire chief and interim assistant city manager, was ratified as full-time Assistant City Manager effective March 26. Adkins said the position was created previously and Young's salary will not increase with the appointment. Commissioners praised Young's decades of service and emergency-management leadership; Young then took the oath of office.
Craig Meisner was promoted from deputy fire chief and ratified as the city's fire chief effective March 26. Meisner thanked Chief Young as a mentor and noted his commitment to continuing standards. Meisner was sworn in and his wife and daughter performed a traditional pinning ceremony following the oath.
The board unanimously approved both ratifications during the meeting and members publicly recognized the role of the city's first responders and volunteers.
