Plein air: Staff and collaborators (including Christine Style and NWTC) are developing a weeklong plein air event along the Fox River this September with an exhibition afterward; commissioners noted the possibility of prize funding and asked staff to expect potential future funding requests.
Parklet and summer programming: Commissioners were invited to help staff a refreshed parklet outside the building for summer events and Artfest in August. Plant People will help with initial planting and watering; staff asked commissioners to sign up for shifts during Artfest.
City galleries: Staff reported city gallery spaces are booked with three artists (Kalia So, Cara Sebert and Troy Turner) and that an open call for gallery applications will launch by early June to begin rotating exhibits.
Staff also shared key takeaways from a recent arts-and-gardens summit and said they will circulate notes and resources to commissioners.
