The council approved a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) amendment and contract award to Libert Brothers Construction for the city's Multi-Athletic Complex (MAC). Staff said the project had been over budget in earlier phases and they removed optional bid items to deliver three fields within available funding.
Staff thanked Libert Brothers and highlighted stewardship in pulling out nonessential options such as shade structures where prices were too high. Councilors praised staff for detailed oversight and for using interest income from a GEO bond supplement to help fund the project so the city could proceed with building three fields rather than only one or two.
Libert Brothers representatives were present; staff said the delivery method used on prior successful projects and the GMP amendment reflects negotiated scope and pricing. Council voted to approve the amendment and authorized the contract award.
What comes next: the contractor will continue preconstruction and move to scheduled construction per the GMP. Staff said they will monitor optional items and change orders and report progress to council.
