Van Buren County Commission approves budget moves to fund K-9 unit, add cyber-liability insurance

Tabitha Denney, a county commissioner, brought Committee A’s financial recommendations to the full commission and the board approved them after roll-call votes. The transfer actions included a $14,500 reallocation from Fund 101 fund balance to cover natural gas and electricity, multiple Sheriff’s Office line-item moves totaling tens of thousands of dollars for food supplies, medical expenses and payroll-related lines, and transfers from Drug Fund and Fund 101 balances to cover half and the remainder of a K-9 unit vehicle.
Financial Director Heather Woodlee presented a proposal from Arlington/Roe to purchase cyber-liability coverage costing $9,776.02 per year beginning with the new fiscal year in July. Commissioner Tabitha Denney moved to accept the proposal; the commission approved it by roll call.
