The Cedar Lake Plan Commission voted Jan. 21 to grant a site-plan waiver for Pinto Concrete, allowing the petitioner to park trucks and related business materials at 12644 Wicker Avenue under specific conditions.
Petitioner Louise E. Sereno (address stated) asked the commission for a waiver to use the site for parking of trucks and related materials. She described the intended use as parking and storing business materials; staff noted the site visit showed room for about 20 spaces including material and forms. "Last at the work session, we had 20 spaces including material and forms," a staff speaker said during the presentation.
Commissioners discussed three primary conditions: limiting combined vehicle and material occupancy to 20 spaces; preserving and maintaining the vegetative screen and fence on the southern property line as a buffer to adjacent residences; and paving the entrance road to the gate/fence at the west end of the building. The commission also required that only business-related storage be allowed (no boats or unrelated personal storage).
A motion to approve the waiver with those contingencies passed on a roll-call vote, 6-0. Staff will verify compliance with the paving and screening conditions before confirming continued use under the waiver.
The commission recorded the conditions on the record and assigned staff to follow up; applicants were informed that noncompliance could prompt enforcement action or revocation of the waiver.
