LCPS finance subcommittee unanimously recommends consent items — bids, BARS, dispositions, vendor payments, transfers

The Las Cruces Public Schools finance subcommittee on March 12 voted unanimously to recommend several items to the full board as a consent package.

Chair Frank moved that the subcommittee recommend board approval of: Bid 25-26-01 (commodity food processing price agreement), the March BARS (operational, federal, state and capital adjustments), property dispositions for the month, vendor payments as presented, and the permanent cash transfer corrections. Vice President Wofford moved and President Court seconded the motion.

Roll call recorded the following votes: Vice President Wofford — yes; Board member Nolan — yes; Miss Teresa Tonorio — yes; President Court — yes; Chair Frank — yes. The motion passed and these items will be transmitted to the full board on the consent agenda.

The permanent cash transfer discussed earlier would correct a historical deposit of $79,428 received in 2020 that staff identified as a reimbursement for technology purchased by Organ Mountain High School. Finance staff proposed splitting the transfer between operational funds and HB33 to place the funds in the correct accounts for prior-year expenditures.

The vendor payments report summarized about $4.8 million in non-payroll disbursements for the month; staff noted efforts to make vendor names more transparent in reports (for example, mapping internal vendor labels to published names such as changing 'board of commissioners' to 'City of Las Cruces' for display). The report also explained a large technology payment for Webex migration and a $10,000 membership payment to Bridge of Southern New Mexico that supports student civic programming.

The subcommittee adjourned after the vote.
