Council approved a revised cost‑sharing agreement for the Sogi Municipal Airport on Jan. 12 that splits approved operating expenses among the three municipal partners and seeks a five‑year capital plan to guide future investment.
"The commission’s work and the revised cost‑sharing agreement acknowledge the airport provides a broader regional economic benefit," CAO Sherry Walden said in presenting the report. She told council the 2026 budget remains unchanged at $55,000 and that the revised formula would take effect Jan. 1, 2027.
During the meeting Walden corrected a typographical error in the report: Hanover’s share will be one‑third (33.33%), not 31%, which the CAO said would amount to about $59,140 for Hanover based on 2026 budget figures — an increase of roughly $4,140 compared with the 2026 contribution.
A councillor asked whether the town would step away from administering airport services; Walden said that possibility was not part of the current agreement but the MOU language allows municipalities flexibility by saying services "may" be provided, not "shall." Council approved the agreement and authorized the mayor and clerk to execute the cost‑sharing bylaw (3370‑26).
