Hanover endorses 'Team Gray' memorandum to coordinate regional economic development

Council voted to endorse the Team Gray memorandum of understanding on Jan. 12, a staff‑recommended agreement intended to coordinate economic‑development activities across Grey County municipalities.
"The Team Gray memorandum of understanding is intended to formalize the collaborative work already underway between Grey County and its member municipalities in the areas of economic development and investment readiness," April Marshall, the town’s economic development manager, told council. She described shared tools and cost‑sharing for items such as regional marketing campaigns, sector studies and joint grant applications.
Marshall said the MOU preserves full municipal autonomy and establishes a county municipal economic development working group that will meet quarterly to develop annual work plans. Deputy Mayor Warren Dicker and Councillor Brandon Cable expressed support, praising regional collaboration and the potential to leverage shared resources for growth.
Council approved the recommendation to receive the ED0126 report and to authorize the mayor and clerk to execute the MOU. Staff noted there are no direct financial implications for 2026; any future costs would be brought forward through the annual budget and work‑plan process.
