The Zoning Commission recommended approval conditioned on a landscape mitigation plan: 25 trees planted between Wesley Road and the netting (five trees per year for five years).
Nearby residents supported the safety benefits but asked for faster or greater screening. Resident Stacy Michaelon, whose house faces the golf course, told the board that planting five trees a year “is not going to give us any type of screening that I think that we're entitled to in our neighborhood” and urged more immediate plantings and evergreen species. Village staff noted uncertainties about a possible pedestrian path and prior invasive vegetation removal (buckthorn) that complicate immediate, large‑scale plantings on Forest Preserve property; staff and the applicant agreed to comply with Cook County Forest Preserve planting guidelines.
The board approved the SUP with the planting condition and asked staff to work with the applicant and the Forest Preserve to accelerate planting where permitted.
