The Rolling Hills Traffic Commission on May 28 voted to approve a proposal to relocate an existing driveway and driveway apron at 9 Portuguese Bend Road.
Benjamin Johnson, the city’s planning technician and code compliance officer, presented the application and timeline for the project, saying the property has “a net lot area of 1.07 acres, which is approximately 46,610 square ft.” He summarized prior approvals by the traffic commission, planning commission and city council and said the applicants submitted a new request on April 13, 2026 to change the driveway alignment.
Vanessa, the city’s traffic engineer, told commissioners she preferred the revised driveway location. “It’s away from the intersection. So, it has really good line of sight and will also avoid any conflict as people are coming through the intersection,” she said.
The applicant said the new alignment would be safer and would permit a larger riding arena on the parcel. After brief discussion commissioners moved to approve the project "as presented." The motion was seconded and carried on a voice vote.
Next steps: staff will document the approval and file the project record with the building/permitting files; the record will reflect planning commission and council actions already taken and the commission’s action on May 28.
