City Manager Rodriguez told the Richfield City Council on May 26 that Representative Mike Howard and Senator Melissa Wicklund helped secure $2 million in state funding for the Nicollet Avenue reconstruction project.
“The $2 million in funding for the Nicollet Avenue reconstruction project … goes a long way towards covering approximately $8 million of the city's local share,” Rodriguez said, thanking council members and Public Works staff for their advocacy.
Rodriguez credited council testimony and participation in bonding tours for the award and thanked staff in Public Works for their work to prepare the project for funding.
The announcement was made during the city manager’s report; no formal action or vote was recorded on the floor related to project authorization during the meeting. The council will continue to consider project budgeting and implementation details in future meetings and staff reports.
