Delanco committee approves credit-card payments, reviews grants and public-works updates

The Delanco Township Committee on May 5 unanimously adopted Resolution 2025-76 to accept credit-card payments for municipal fees such as construction and zoning permits, affordable-housing fees, dog and cat licenses, marriage licenses and rental registrations, with processing fees passed to users.
Attorney Doug and municipal staff described the proposal’s scope and noted property taxes and court fees would be excluded because the tax collector and court operate separate payment systems. The committee approved the resolution after agreeing on a catchall phrase to cover other general municipal fees handled by various departments.
The township engineer updated the committee on planned road projects tied to the 2024 Local Aid program (Walnut Street from Wilton to Hickory and a section of Chestnut), with bid openings scheduled May 13 and a potential award at the May 19 meeting. Woodfront Park construction is underway (electric, steps, and gazebo installation expected in mid-May subject to weather). County-administered CDBG grants for ADA ramps were awarded and a pre-construction meeting is scheduled.
Recreation and administration discussed applying for Burlington County’s municipal park-development grant (deadline June 27): staff proposed a playground at the centrally located Babe Ruth complex and recommended final design/cost proposals be presented for June authorization; no local match was required for the grant.
Public works reported pickup of brush and leaves, field maintenance and 136 tires collected during a cleanup day. Police reported 25 cases, 70 motor-vehicle violations, 246 stops and 982 calls for service in April and previewed Memorial Day parade traffic planning.
What’s next: Credit-card acceptance implementation steps (procurement and staff training), bid action on road projects on May 13–19, and a possible park-grant submission in June.
