Gulf County awards debris-recovery contract to Crowder Gulf, adds monitoring

Gulf County commissioners on May 26 voted unanimously to award the county's disaster recovery and debris-removal contract (bid 2526-16) to Crowder Gulf.
Mr. Novak told the board the county received nine bids and provided commissioners with evaluation-committee scoring sheets dated 5/20. The panel of senior staff, appointed by Mr. Hammond, ranked Crowder Gulf first, DRC Emergency Services second, AshBritt third and Kaiser Kain fourth based on the RFP's 100-point scoring system.
Commissioner Husman, who moved to award the contract, cited Crowder Gulf's pricing, higher insurance coverage, named team members for local response and automatic tracking capabilities that would help county staff manage project worksheets during a storm response. Commissioner McCronone seconded the motion.
The board voted 5-0 to approve the award. Commissioners then approved a separate motion to include debris-monitoring services and authorized the chair (or designee) to sign the contract before June 1, subject to final staff edits and execution processes.
Mr. Novak said the county would distribute scoring sheets to proposers following the vote and work with administration and the clerk to proceed with contract execution and monitoring arrangements.
Next steps: staff will notify vendors, release evaluation information via public records, and finalize contract documents for signature. The county emphasized the award's timing given the contract's upcoming expiration and the start of hurricane season.
