Tractor Supply nears completion; board hears economic development updates and honors longtime business owner

Trustee Wilson told the board that Tractor Supply's construction is progressing and that crews completed the final coat of asphalt on the parking lot just before heavy snowfall. He said the planned right‑turn lane and a full‑access driveway will provide entrance and exit capacity and that staff are coordinating with utility providers to expedite electricity connections so the store can open in the spring.

Wilson also described a village effort to produce testimonial videos for Provision Lab and local food pantries to raise awareness of nonprofit services during the holiday season. He said Director Bill Barnes and marketing coordinator Rachel Beckman interviewed volunteers and pantry clients for a presentation that will be shown to the board after the new year.

In economic development announcements, Wilson said the manufacturer Bortman is on track to open a 120,000‑square‑foot facility in the spring and that another global steel‑industry manufacturer has plans to relocate to Monee, bringing jobs to the area. He emphasized controlled growth and coordination with residents to select appropriate businesses for the village.

Earlier in the meeting the board presented a special recognition to Frankie, a local restaurant owner, marking 42 years in business. Frankie thanked family, employees and loyal customers and said the business looks forward to continuing service to the community.

Trustees praised neighborhood organizations and volunteers who supported recent events including the village tree lighting and a senior luncheon.
