"That was not accounted for in the original budget that we posted," McLam said; staff recommended applying the extra distribution to a planned one‑time IT hardware purchase (servers, switches and panels) to bring those services fully in‑house.
McLam said the additional $71,000 would allow the town to buy the previously outlined hardware in the coming fiscal year and then migrate services in the following year. A resident who identified himself as Richard spoke in favor of adopting the budget as presented and praised staff for balancing revenue and expenditures; he also thanked council members who had supported a tax‑rate decrease in the prior year.
Council unanimously opened the public hearing and, after receiving the single signed speaker, closed the hearing by unanimous motion. The council did not adopt the budget at this meeting; staff said they expect to present the formal adoption motion at the next meeting (scheduled in the record for Wednesday, June 10). McLam said staff will repost revised budget documents and the updated line items online for public review.
No tax increase was proposed in the presented FY27 budget. Staff and council emphasized transparency and invited residents to submit questions to staff or attend budget meetings prior to any adoption vote.
