San Luis awards $58,258 paving contract for B Street–Main Street intersection

The City of San Luis awarded a contract to DP Construction for paving improvements at the B Street and Main Street intersection, a project that includes new traffic signals, dedicated turn lanes, ADA‑compliant sidewalk ramps and bike lanes on Main Street. City Engineer Thomas Sanchez told council staff anticipated cost savings by performing much of the work in house and subcontracting paving and signal installation only.
Sanchez said in‑house purchasing and public‑works labor reduced the city's projected cost compared with the engineer’s original estimate. The council moved and seconded to award the construction contract to DP Construction for the amount presented in the agenda and approved the motion by voice vote.
Engineering staff said paving work was anticipated to start the week of June 9 and that the project had been procured through the city's OpenGov procurement program with two bids received.
