San Luis council approves UKG Ready for payroll, HR and timekeeping

The San Luis City Council approved the procurement of UKG Ready for timekeeping, payroll and human-resources operations on May 27, following a staff presentation and vendor demonstration. City staff said the three‑year contract will consolidate fragmented HR systems, reduce manual work and help the city recruit and retain employees by shortening onboarding and improving payroll accuracy.
Rachel Adelberg, a UKG public-sector account executive, told the council UKG Ready is a single workforce platform that integrates HR, payroll and timekeeping and is designed for public-sector payroll complexities. Tim Marsh, UKG sales director, said the vendor works only with public sector clients and referenced several Arizona municipalities using UKG products.
Staff argued the change would help the city reduce payroll errors and speed recruitment, which they said is particularly important for public safety and public-works staffing. Council discussion acknowledged the staff due diligence and the months spent evaluating options; the motion to approve the three‑year purchase passed on a roll call with Council member Tio de Laoya recording a dissenting vote and the motion carrying by recorded vote.
City staff will finalize contract documents and coordinate implementation planning with HR and finance teams.
