Wakefield elected chair, Salfer elected vice-chair as Redwood County adopts Roberts Rules for 2025

At its Jan. 7 organizational meeting, the Redwood County Board of Commissioners elected Rick Wakefield as chair and Jim Salfer as vice-chair, authorized the chair to act in emergencies and adopted Roberts Rules of Order for board procedure.
The Redwood County Board of Commissioners completed its organizational business Jan. 7 by electing Rick Wakefield as board chair and Jim Salfer as vice-chair for 2025.
Nominations were called by Auditor-Treasurer Jean Price. After nominations from Commissioners Bob Van Hee and Dennis Groebner, Wakefield received a second and a unanimous vote for chair. Salfer was nominated and seconded for vice-chair and elected unanimously.
The board also voted unanimously to authorize the board chair to act on behalf of Redwood County in case of emergencies and to adopt Roberts Rules of Order as the procedural guide for county board meetings in 2025.
Committee appointments for 2025 were presented by Chair Wakefield and accepted by the board. No conflicts of interest were reported at the start of the meeting.
