Summary

At its Jan. 15 meeting the Stanton Planning Commission took several procedural and land-use actions:
- Officer elections: Jessica Robinson was elected chair and Judith Wigan was elected vice chair for 2026 following nominations and voice votes.
- Minutes: The commission approved the Dec. 18, 2025 meeting minutes as amended (correction to indicate Mr. Hartless presented an item). Mr. Hansen abstained from the roll call on those minutes.
- Peek Street vacation (Item 3B): The commission recommended approval of Jones Garden LLC's request to vacate 0.173 acres of undeveloped Peek Street, conditioned on staff review and approval of recorded utility easement dedications prior to placing the ordinance on a council agenda.
- Rezoning (Item 3C): The commission voted to recommend that City Council approve a conditional B5 rezoning for 912 West Beverly Street (parcel ID 9168), with the proffers offered by the applicant. The rezoning, if approved by council, would enable an adaptive-reuse project to create 15 low-income senior apartments; subsequent site-plan, building-code and historic-preservation approvals are required before construction.
All recommendations from the commission will be forwarded to City Council for consideration at upcoming meetings; the rezoning is scheduled for council on Feb. 12 at 7:00 p.m.
