Lynbrook board introduces new fire leadership and proclaims observances for autism and a fallen patrolman

At the April 13 meeting, the Village of Lynbrook Board of Trustees heard remarks from Chief Clayton Murphy and introduced the department’s newly slated leadership. Chief Murphy thanked the board for support during his four years in office and introduced Third Assistant Chief Stephen Cribbin, Second Assistant Chief Phil DeKatch, First Assistant Chief Peter Fazio, and Chief D.J. Ambattista as the 106th chief engineer of the Lynbrook Fire Department.
Mayor Alan C. Beach presented a proclamation designating April as Autism Acceptance Month in the village and read a citation describing the month’s goals of awareness, inclusion and research support. The board later read and presented a proclamation honoring Patrolman Philip Cardillo (the transcript also contains a variant spelling, Philip Cardello) and proclaimed April 14, 2026, as Patrolman Philip Cardillo Day in the Village of Lynbrook.
Chief Murphy’s remarks expressed gratitude for working with village leadership and for the sacrifices of first responders; trustees and members of the public thanked the fire department and welcomed the newly appointed chiefs. The board voted to approve the appointments listed on the agenda.
The board followed the introductions and proclamations with photographs and brief community recognition before moving on to other agenda items.
