Each appointment carried with concise comments from board members praising the candidates’ willingness to volunteer.
Signage: The board affirmed that the embedded digital message portion of a proposed freestanding sign at the public‑works property will be used for public‑safety and welfare messages (detours, storm and emergency notifications), bringing the sign into compliance with the town sign code exemption. DPW Director Peter McCanny said police and fire departments will also have access to the display; members asked that on‑line alerts be mirrored on the town’s DPW page.
Event fee waiver: The board waived the special event permit fee for the Falmouth Art Market at Marina Park (Thursdays, June 26–Oct. 9) on the basis that vendor fees support the Cultural Council; staff will continue to monitor lawn impacts and cancellation policies for rainy days.
Consent and minutes: The Select Board adopted the consent agenda (grants, donations, licensing items) except for one sign/utility‑pole item held for further review; the board approved three sets of past minutes as presented.
Other: The board directed the town manager to draft a letter seeking status and raising community concerns about a Barnstable request to include a civilian‑airport feasibility study component at Joint Base Cape Cod; the item will return for review. The board also received reports on the Trotting Park environmental investigation, the DA’s annual update and Barnstable County’s regional programs.
