Council raises city stormwater fee, average residential bill to $3 per month

On May 26 the council adopted a resolution amending the stormwater management fee schedule to increase rates; staff said the change will raise the average residential bill from $2 to $3 per month.
Rick Lance, director of public works utilities, explained that residential customers account for about 85% of the fund’s usage and that the increase is intended to stabilize the fund and pay for operations. Council members asked questions about impacts and confirmed the change after discussion. The resolution was adopted by voice vote.
The rate increase moves the city’s stormwater fee schedule toward covering operating and maintenance costs; staff will implement billing changes and monitor fund balances.
