Center for Life Resources says it serves more than 5,000 annually; commissioners will consider county board replacement

Dion White, representing the Center for Life Resources, told Mills County commissioners on May 26 that the center now serves "over 5,000 people annually" and emphasized staffing challenges.
"We're serving more folks now than we ever have in the history of the center for over 5,000 people annually," White said, and added the agency had been operating with about 25 unfilled positions. White said the center provides a range of services and urged continued county support as state funding pressures persist.
White also informed the court that long-serving board member Carrie Roberts, who had served about 18 years and formerly worked as a county attorney, plans to step down. White asked that the court consider naming Charles Walters as the county representative to the center's board. Walters was present and introduced to the court; commissioners asked staff to place the formal appointment on the next agenda so Walters may attend the upcoming board meeting (Walters can attend but cannot vote until appointed).
Commissioners thanked White and Walters and asked county staff to add the appointment to the next commissioner's-court agenda in June so the court may take formal action.
Next steps: staff will post the appointment for a future meeting and provide commissioners with the candidate information.
