Hideout council approves two planning commissioners and swears them in

The Hideout Town Council voted by affirmation on Feb. 12 to confirm two mayoral appointments to the planning commission and immediately administered the oath of office.
JD Cronin, who said he brings council experience and a financial focus, and Steve Powell, who described decades of professional and board experience, were each affirmed by the council and sworn in. Each appointee will serve a four-year term through 2030 and was told to complete required land-use training within the town's training timeline.
Cronin told the council he is "an empiricist" and seeks evidence- and finance-based review of development proposals. Powell summarized a lengthy professional background in medicine and committee leadership and said he would bring that administrative experience to the commission.
Following the affirmations, staff and council clarified logistics: the planning commission will meet to elect its own chair and vice chair and the new commissioners will receive onboarding materials and training credit for attending the council's land-use training session.
The council treated the confirmations as separate motions and approved both by voice/affirmation votes; the town clerk then administered the oaths of office.
