At its meeting, the Town Board authorized a set of routine financial and capital actions and pressed staff for follow-up on investments and project details.
The board authorized an extension/renewal of the town’s bond anticipation note (BAN) with the Bank of Melbourne for the Bridge New York project, after staff reported the prior instrument had expired. The motion to authorize a new contract and new dates was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board approved a formal court-audit resolution documenting that board members reviewed 2024 court records to satisfy the county controller’s request. The board approved the resolution by a voice vote.
Budget amendments were approved to recognize insurance proceeds for a damaged truck, to record receipt of payments for septic work at the town pool, and to move grant funding and expenses for a composting toilet into the appropriate revenue and expense lines.
On capital projects, the board accepted a low bid for town-hall windows and approved an add-on to stain (rather than paint) the new windows; the chair signed the contract documents before the meeting closed. The board also authorized highway staff to solicit bids to replace a failing boiler in the highway garage.
The board discussed whether to participate in New York CLASS, a pooled investment program. Following discussion about recent market volatility and the importance of confirming principal protection, the board made a contingent motion to participate if the program confirms principal protection and other safeguards. The contingent motion passed by voice vote.
Where votes were recorded by voice and no roll-call tally was preserved in the meeting transcript, actions are described here as approved by voice vote and will be reflected in the formal minutes and resolutions.
A personnel matter remained for executive-session consideration after the public meeting adjourned.
