Board members reviewed bids for replacing the Constable vehicle at the Nov. 6 meeting and discussed timing, specifications and funding.
The town solicited quotes from roughly 20 qualified dealers and received four responses: three for in‑stock 2024 vehicles and one for an ordered 2025 vehicle. The 2025 Ford F‑150 four‑door short bed was quoted at $43,346 and was the lowest bid. Board discussion covered engine specifications (V6), option packages and possible cost savings from transferring the lighting package from the current vehicle to a replacement.
Officials noted that the code enforcement department has generated roughly $24,000 in excess revenue this year and that a remaining balance of roughly $20,000 could be drawn from contingency or other funds if the board chose to move forward. The 2025 model would likely not be delivered until the spring; the dealership said the quoted price would hold about 90 days.
Members generally agreed that replacing the aging vehicle made sense but deferred final approval; the supervisor agreed to prepare a resolution for consideration at the next meeting. No purchase vote was taken Nov. 6.
