Council reviews summer street and sidewalk projects; asks staff to follow up on small Morse Street cemetery

A major Pearl Street reconstruction (East Pearl: Sprague to Division; West Pearl: South Clay to Fremont; plus one block of South Hudson) is set to begin in July with bids opening June 4 and council action scheduled for June 8.
Council also received a letter from Keith Baker requesting the closure of North Hannah Street for Side Street Bar events; the applicant’s representative answered council questions about access and impacts and the council signaled support pending final clarifications.
In new business, a councilmember (Jimmy) relayed a resident request to improve and better mark a small cemetery on Morse Street, where some founding residents may be buried unmarked. Council asked staff (Keith) to prepare a summary and convene interested parties for the next meeting.
No formal votes on the construction projects were recorded in the transcript; several projects have upcoming procurement milestones on the council’s calendar.
