The Swarthmore Borough Council voted unanimously to appoint 13 residents to a steering committee that will help guide the borough's comprehensive plan process. The chair read the names of the appointees and asked for a second; after brief remarks the motion passed.
The appointments followed an executive-session review of more than 40 applicants. “I sincerely thank you so much to all these folks who put forward their perspectives and their skills,” the chair said while presenting the slate. The appointed members named by the council were Donna Francher, John McKinstry, John Mallum, Cindy McLoud, Jeremy Lumis, Dan Atkins, Carol McKey, Virginia Thompson, Finton McHugh, Elizabeth Rothauser, David Schles, Heather Saunders and John Hollinger.
Council members noted the review was challenging because of the strong applicant pool and said there will be additional volunteer roles tied to the comprehensive plan for those not selected. The council did not record individual roll-call votes in the transcript; the chair called for a voice vote and declared the motion passed.
