Auditor reports clean 2023 fiscal-year opinion to Hillsboro council

The Hillsboro City Council received the city’s audited financial statements for fiscal year 2023 and the single-audit report from auditor Todd Puit of Pill Browning Hill. Puit told the council the audit issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the financial statements and found no reportable internal-control deficiencies or noncompliance with laws, regulations, contracts, or grant requirements.
“As a refresher, we were engaged to perform what’s called the single audit… you have a clean opinion on your financial statements,” Puit said, congratulating city staff for providing the information needed for the audit. He added the federal grant award program compliance portion of the single audit received a nonmodified opinion with no findings or questioned costs.
The council did not request additional action at the meeting; Puit invited councilors to follow up with questions about the audit or financial statements.
