Hempfield supervisors reelect chair, name officers and approve slate of township appointments

After nominations and seconding motions, the board confirmed Bill Bretz as vice‑chair and Jay Anderson as treasurer. The board designated the positions of secretary and treasurer as non‑compensable and named Aaron Siko secretary and Becky Durbin as combined assistant treasurer and assistant secretary.
In a series of routine administrative votes the board approved Resolution No. 2026‑01 appointing Scott Avolio and Avolio Law Group as township solicitor, Resolution No. 2026‑02 naming Gibson‑Thomas as township engineer, and Resolution No. 2026‑03 appointing Bernie Matthews of Meyer Darrah Buckler Bebenek & Eck PLLC as the township labor consultant. The board also approved Resolution No. 2026‑04 to name Ron Andrasko as Certified Sewage Enforcement Officer with Tom McGuire and Matthew Pernelli listed as alternates, and Resolution No. 2026‑05 appointing Aaron Siko as the Right‑to‑Know Officer and Callie Krueger as alternate Right‑to‑Know Officer.
The board confirmed financial and administrative designations, including Resolution No. 2026‑08 naming First National Bank of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Local Government Investment Trust (PLGIT) as official depositories and Resolution No. 2026‑09 naming the Tribune‑Review as the official township newspaper.
Representatives to intergovernmental bodies were named: Chairman Weimer as member (and Aaron Siko as alternate) to the Westmoreland County Central Tax Bureau (Resolution No. 2026‑10) and Bill Bretz as the representative (Jay Anderson alternate) to the Central Westmoreland Council of Governments (Resolution No. 2026‑11). The board also filled multiple seats on the Five Star Trail and appointed members to the Friends of Hempfield Park under Resolutions 2026‑12 through 2026‑22.
The board accepted the resignation of Branden Ewing from the Planning Commission effective Dec. 31, 2025, and tabled Resolution 2026‑13 to fill that specific vacancy. Other Planning Commission and Zoning Hearing Board appointments were approved as listed in Resolutions 2026‑14 through 2026‑18.
“We look forward to working for the residents,” Supervisor Becky Durbin said, welcoming her new colleagues and staff to another year of township business.
The meeting closed with brief remarks from each supervisor and was adjourned by Chairman Weimer at 7:30 p.m.
