The New Garden Board on July 15 approved awarding the reconstruction contract for the airport’s east parallel taxiway to DCO Brothers, not to exceed $1,671,155.50, with a local share of $83,500 to be paid from the airport fund.
Staff said the project address one of the airport’s poorest pavement sections and will upgrade the area to current Group II aircraft standards. The township opened bids and received two proposals; the low bidder’s base bid was reported and the FAA and Pennsylvania Bureau of Aviation indicated grant funding for the base bid plus an alternate. Staff recommended awarding the contract to DCO Brothers to accept the federal and state grant award and proceed with the base scope.
Why it matters: The reconstruction is intended to remove a safety hazard on the taxiway, standardize pavement and improve aircraft operational safety. The local share is planned from airport fund reserves; most of the total cost is covered by FAA and state aviation grant sources.
Procurement and funding detail: Staff reported the FAA share at approximately $1,154,439 and other state aviation funds covering a portion; the total contract award includes construction, engineering and administration costs. The board approved the motion by voice vote.
