The Wrentham Select Board on June 18 approved amended outdoor-dining licenses for COA City Express (48 South Street) and the Gaffle Public House (36 South Street), and granted a special-event permit to Circ Entertainment for July 11–14 at Wrentham Village Premium Outlets.
Staff told the board both restaurants have completed required office reviews and that electronic signatures were authorized to finalize paperwork. The votes to approve the amended outdoor-dining licenses were unanimous on roll call.
On the special-event permit, staff and representatives from the outlet mall said this is a returning event. The board approved the Circ Entertainment schedule (Thursday–Friday evenings and Saturday–Sunday daytime into evening) with conditions: coordination with the Board of Health for all food permits; two police details during events; coordination with the fire department, including a pumper/fire-engine presence and staffing during shows; submission of any use or storage permits at least 30 days in advance; coordination for water access with the Department of Public Works; temporary tent permits and inspections with the Department of Inspections; and notification to Director Butters. The motion to approve the permit with these stipulations passed unanimously.
Why it matters: Approving outdoor dining supports downtown businesses and the special-event permit aims to balance economic activity with public-safety and operational conditions that the board requires.
Staff noted applicants had satisfied internal permit checks; the board thanked the town’s small businesses and outlet management for coordinating with departments during the permitting process.
