Saddle Brook honors postal worker, longtime volunteer and township physician

At its Feb. 20 meeting the Saddle Brook Township Council presented awards to letter carrier Renny Esau for a life‑saving intervention, recognized Howard Moulder for more than six decades of community service, and thanked Dr. Michael Weiner for 44 years as township physician.
The Saddle Brook Township Council on Feb. 20 presented recognition plaques to three residents for public service and a life‑saving act.
Mayor Robert White said letter carrier Renny Esau intervened on Sept. 28, 2024 when he found a driver slumped over the wheel on Market Street and “was able to get… the gear shift into park,” preventing a likely worse outcome. Esau received a plaque “in recognition of your selfless act of courage.” Esau told the council, “first of all I want to give all glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that nobody was hurt… I’ve been working for Saddle Brook Post Office for 26 years.”
The council also honored Howard Moulder for more than 60 years of service to the township, citing roles that included library board president, fire department service and work with the Board of Education. Fire Chief Dave presented an additional certificate of recognition and Moulder thanked the community for attending.
Dr. Michael Weiner received recognition for 44 years of service as township physician. Weiner said he recently moved his practice to 1124 East Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood but told the council he remains committed to Saddle Brook residents: “my heart… is still always in Saddle Brook; it’s only five miles away.”
Each presentation drew applause and brief remarks from council members and the mayor. The council recessed briefly after the presentations to allow photos and greetings.
