Holmdel mayor urges support for Mammoth County Open Space Trust Fund increase on Nov. 4 ballot

The mayor described the fund’s record—supporting the purchase of more than 9,967 acres of preserved county-owned open space and administering a municipal open-space grant program that has awarded 291 grants totaling $61 million to 51 of 53 Mammoth County municipalities. He said the county has supported prior local acquisitions and that continued funding would allow additional municipal and county preservation projects to proceed.
Committee members and the mayor framed the measure as one that preserves farms, parks and recreational facilities and helps manage growth. One committee member said they had already voted in support of the question.
The committee did not take a formal municipal action to endorse the ballot question during the meeting; the mayor encouraged residents to learn more about the open-space plan and to consider the Nov. 4 vote.
