The Paradise Town Council approved a memorandum of understanding on Oct. 9 to finalize partnerships for a Community Development Block Grant‑Disaster Recovery (CDBG‑DR) workforce training center the town was awarded to develop on the Paradise High School campus.
Director Colette Curtis said the town applied for roughly $17.8 million to create a Workforce Training Center that would support both high‑school students and adult learners. Partners identified in the MOU include Butte College, the Valley Contractors Exchange, the Workforce Foundation and local technical training providers; the program will also include wraparound services and link students with contractor partners for hands‑on construction training.
Curtis said the MOU is the step required to move from award to implementation and that the town has executed the standard agreement with the state pending final partner agreements. Council approved the MOU and authorized staff to finalize partner documentation so the project can proceed into detailed planning and procurement.
Next steps: staff will finalize partner agreements, develop a project schedule and begin design and procurement work to bring the training center online.
