Lynbrook to host Jan. 15 workshop on downtown transit-corridor plan

The Village of Lynbrook announced a transportation-planning study titled “Village of Lynbrook: a vision for revitalizing the downtown transit corridor” and scheduled a public workshop on Jan. 15, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. The program is a partnership with the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council and a community-engagement team from Ruckers University.
The village attorney explained the planning study focuses on the corridor between the Lynbrook train station and Atlantic Avenue downtown. He said the Metropolitan Transportation Council’s community-planning workshop program provides technical assistance at no cost to the village and that Ruckers collected input at local events (more than 600 interactions at a recent festival).
Officials urged residents to register online for the Jan. 15 Zoom workshop and said the village will post details and flyers on its social media channels and TV access channel. The workshop is intended to gather public input on access, lighting, pedestrian connections and other improvements that may be recommended in a report for the board’s consideration.
Trustees noted neighboring villages have used similar programs to produce both large-scale and highly granular recommendations, and the village attorney said the resulting report will offer recommendations for board review but does not obligate the board to adopt any specific project.
