The Shafter City Council approved Amendment No.1 to Development Agreement 23-21 on March 4 to correct the legal description recorded last year.
Planning staff explained that when the development agreement with Lennar Homes was recorded, the legal description mistakenly included adjacent Track 7483 (the former school site). The amendment replaces the legal description so Track 7483 is excluded; staff said the owner of Track 7483 must pursue a separate development agreement and that the Planning Commission recommended the correction last month.
Staff introduced Ordinance No. 763 for first reading by title only and the council voted to approve the amendment on a motion by Mayor Pro Tem Tim Ola, seconded by Council member Espinosa. The roll-call vote was unanimous among members present.
The amendment is procedural: it corrects the recorded legal description to reflect the council’s intent and preserves the separate review process for Track 7483 when its owner seeks approval.
