The Garden City Council approved Resolution 1252-26 to authorize a $1,500 city contribution to a visitors-bureau-sponsored America 250 mural. The contribution supplements a $2,500 visitor-bureau grant already planned for the artwork.
City staff recommended a visible location at 3242 West Chinden Boulevard (an art-glass studio) as the preferred site, subject to a private–public agreement with the property owner; an alternative location under the Glenwood Bridge was discussed. Staff said the artist cannot complete the mural by July 4 but could meet an Aug. 7 deadline to qualify for the sponsor’s grant timeline. A ribbon-cutting was proposed for Aug. 7 between 3 and 5 p.m.
Council approved the appropriation and authorized staff to finalize the site agreement and event plans. The resolution directs the spending from the general fund and authorizes the mayor and staff to coordinate the ribbon-cutting and any site agreement required.
