Weld County approves contracts, a right-of-way purchase and first reading to formalize Juneteenth date

At its May 27 meeting the Weld County Board of Commissioners approved routine procurement and contract items, accepted a right-of-way conveyance for a roundabout project and approved first reading of a human-resources ordinance that designates Juneteenth as a specific county holiday.
Purchasing recommended award of bid B260048 for a roof replacement at 1500 Second Street storage to Uptop Roofing and Exteriors LLC. The low bid and contract amount were read into the record as 165,90042 (transcript characters); county purchasing and the board treated the amount as the bid total and approved the award by voice vote.
The board approved a one-year preventative maintenance contract for the Health Department laboratory dishwasher presented by Director Jason Chesher at a cost of $1,850, and authorized chair signature on multiple fair-related contracts: an agreement with Steadfast Event Solutions LLC (DBA Flex Productions) to provide pipe-and-drape services for the 2026 Weld County Fair and a memorandum for the Corvette show hosted by Vets West Car Club chapter (the fair board recommended both items). Those contract motions carried by voice vote.
Public Works reported acquisition of 0.361 acres of permanent right-of-way and 1.095 acres of temporary construction easement from Roger and Renee Everheart for the County Road 74 and 31 intersection roundabout. The board confirmed the previously approved offer amount of $119,558 and approved conveyance and signature authorization consistent with the 2026 Public Works budget.
Clerk Esther Giza presented Ordinance 2026-08 to amend chapter 3 (Human Resources) so Juneteenth would be a designated county holiday rather than a floating holiday. The board opened a public hearing, received no public comment, and approved the ordinance on first reading.
In other housekeeping the board approved general warrants, certified prior hearings and approved a minor liquor-license corporate report for Circle K Store No. 2709846. The meeting concluded with public comment and adjournment.
