Othello board honors student representative Liliana Fino and AVID educator Colette Simpson

The Othello School District board recognized student representative Liliana Fino and longtime AVID contributor Colette Simpson during its meeting.

Liliana thanked the board and staff who helped her with a scholarship to Gonzaga University, saying she appreciated the opportunities the district provided.
Colette Simpson was singled out for her work with the AVID program at Othello High School. Board members said Colette’s advocacy for students and ability to bring people together helped the program succeed. In remarks, Simpson described AVID as "the thing that made me a better person and a better teacher," said she had worked in the district for 28 years and expressed appreciation for colleagues and students as she prepares to retire in June.
The board’s recognition segment also included a short photo presentation and comments from multiple directors thanking both honorees for their service and contributions to students.
